The phone-free walk

The walk stays the walk.

No feed. No screen to carry. Speak, and keep moving. When you return, Fieldnote has made your recording useful without turning it into something you did not say.

01

Go without the phone.

Fieldnote records on Apple Watch, even when your iPhone stays behind.

02

Say it while it is alive.

One tap starts a quiet recording. There is nothing to organize while you walk.

03

Come home to a page.

Your recording moves to iPhone and becomes complete, searchable text.

04

Return when you need it.

Search every page, or tap a phrase to hear the exact moment again.

A Fieldnote page with a brief note above the complete original words.

Pages

Your full thought, kept whole.

A Page is the complete text of what you said. Search it, select it, and read it at your own pace. Your original words remain beneath everything Fieldnote adds.

Nothing is rewritten into a cleaner version of you.

A phrase selected in Fieldnote while the original recording plays.

Notes

A brief reading. Grounded in your words.

A Note brings forward a line already present in your Page. It is small on purpose: no advice, no diagnosis, no invented lesson.

When there is nothing worth adding, Fieldnote stays quiet.

Weekly letters

On Sunday, your week returns.

A Sunday Letter gathers a few lines from the week into one private view. It is drawn only from what you said — a way to notice what remained, without being told what it means.

Your week, in your own language.

A private Sunday letter in Fieldnote, composed from lines spoken during the week.

Private by construction

Your journal is yours. We can’t read it.

Recording, transcription, Notes, and Letters happen on your devices. Fieldnote has no server and no account.

  • 01No external AI service. Notes and Letters are made on your iPhone.
  • 02No analytics, ad tracking, or collection of what you record.
  • 03Audio stays local. It never syncs to a Fieldnote server or iCloud.
  • 04Pages and Notes stay local by default. You may choose private iCloud backup; Fieldnote still cannot read them.
  • 05It works in Airplane Mode. There is no network service required.

Early TestFlight

Take it on a real walk.

Fieldnote is launching soon on the App Store.

Before then, a small group of Apple Watch owners will help test it where it matters: outside, moving, with the phone left behind.

A note from the founder

Some of my clearest thoughts arrive only after I’ve left my phone at home.

On a long walk, something loosens. An idea becomes clear. A conversation takes on new meaning. Then I get home and realize I can’t quite find my way back to it.

I didn’t want another device to carry, another account, or another place my words had to travel. I wanted a small, private way to keep the thought without interrupting the walk.

So I made Fieldnote.
